Children’s Dentistry for Lakeway, Texas
Helping your child establish excellent oral health early is important to us – they’re our special family members!
Children’s dentistry requires a caring and compassionate touch, and you’ll find that right here at Eaddy Dentistry in Lakeway, Texas. As family dentists, Dr. Winston and Dr. Daniel are committed to providing healthy smiles for even the smallest members of every family. Children require a little extra cavity protection and a trained eye that can look out for developmental problems. They also need a dentist who can make trips to the dentist relaxing and fun. Our doctors will set your child’s mind at ease and help him or her develop a healthy appreciation for his or her smile.
Children’s dentistry involves certain specific treatments, including dental sealants and fluoride treatments. These help prevent cavities as your child grows. Children’s dentistry also involves educating your child about the best way to take care of his or her smile. Dr. Winston and Dr. Daniel can provide this guidance in a way that’s easy for your child to understand.
Your Child’s First Dental Visit
We recommend that you bring your child to our office sometime around the age of three. Your child’s first children’s dentistry visit will generally involve a very simple exam and a gentle cleaning. Our main goal during these initial visits is to establish comfort in the dental chair. If you’d like, you can sit in the dental chair while your child sits on your lap, although the more independent a child can be during these first few children’s dental visits, the more likely they are to be comfortable with dental care going forward.
Dental sealants help us protect your child’s teeth from decay and cavities. We cover the tops of your child’s molars with a plastic coating that gets into the nooks and crannies, keeping out debris that would otherwise contribute to the formation of cavities. Dental sealants are generally placed when your child’s secondary, or adult, molars have erupted.
Fluoride is a mineral well known for its tooth-strengthening qualities. Fluoride treatments have long been used in children’s dentistry as a way to build strong tooth enamel that’s more decay resistant. Fluoride cannot inoculate your child against cavities completely, but it can reduce the risks.
If your child is ready for his or her very first children’s dentistry visit, or if you’ve got an older child in need of dental care, contact Eaddy Dentistry in Lakeway for an appointment. We provide dental care for children from Bee Cave, Steiner Ranch, Dripping Springs, Spicewood, and Austin, too. Keeping your precious child smiling is one of the high points of our work!
